Secret Sounds

bahaha what a night was fuckin awesome, my plan to sync a ton of my songs and play that live while using loads of effects worked like a charm, my first set with no crashes + actual mixing (no more DJ Windows Media Player) and live effects, went really well, like, mad stoked about it, still! Johnny Yeah fuckin killed it with a plethora of wobbles, I did my thing (although I came to the realisation that no one wants to hear my "IDM" crap), Adam Alien Hand wrecked the place with breaks, hardcore and some classics (Limb by Limb was just hillarious), and Cormac Welfare shat all over everything with the usual old school jungle freebase overdose...

Proper lethal, and there was a great feeling of accomplishment looking at a pretty packed, mainstream techno night in the next room, where the agenda was "serious techno, hands to the sides, don't you dare have too much fun business" compared with a room of "anything goes breakcore mashup bass jungle oriented nonsense see how fast you can bounce from one wall to the other business" which was quite clearly having the fucking buzz unlike it's more "popular" counterpart (not saying it wasn't good or they weren't enjoying themselves or anything, I'm sure they had "fun") (Although it was louder which seemed unfair, but hey, the fact that we even got to a full irish breakcore night was epic.)

To fuckin top it all off, it went so well, and Jaygo made such a tidy profit, that there's gonna be another one in november, which me and Johnny will aparently be returning to for sure, and Jaygo mentioned getting Deadlybuzz, who does stuff like johnny, and if he does, I shall be appearing on the lineup as DJ YeahDeadly...

17 Days, really?

Well, got nothing done really, except a couple new tracks, but to be fair I'm feeling pretty fucking amibitious about the whole thing anyway, friday that is, Secret Sounds *haha still makes me laugh, every time. Anyways yeah had a really quick go of what I had in mind last night and it seams to be working, essentially assigning each knob on my nanokontrol2 to control a different effect. Test run was delay/comby type thing, stretch, bitcrush and a reverser, sounded fucking bitching actually, real kinda old school feel and sound to it, so the plan is to make the set first, all at the same BPM, all synced, all nice, and set cue points telling me what BPM I need to change it to when it comes up to the cue. Seams kinda like cheating, cause I'd have to do all the "mixing", more like mashing in my case beforehand, but then I'd have the freedom to work the effects to bits, as well as keep control of the speed of the proceedings, either way I'm excited as shit about it, really can't wait to get this shit up and running woot

Going Postal

Going post crazy these days! Well, yesterday, and today. I suppose it may be because some things have happened, well they haven't really to be truthful, but anyways, moving on... So, first order of business is a guy came by last night and left with my laptop, hopefully that means it's gonna he's going to be fixing it. So that is good.

Now secondly, i sent pep a message on http://www.ihatebreakcore.com/ which I am effectively an admin on, not that I've ever done anything admin-like on there, apart from post like a lunatic and update the polls. Anyways we're going to try to get the contests section up and running again (I have to stop using that bullshit, Xbox troubleshooting line) but yeah, have some pretty ambitious ideas... The ideas are a bit too ambitious to reveal, and the last thing I want is to ever look back at this thing, realising that I never did any of the things I had said I was going to do. Long winded much? I know.

Anyways that's that, in other news I got a bunch of new tunes, stuff I always meant to listen to, but never did, out of stubbornness or procrastination, either way got a bunch of Xanopticon, Igorr and I:gor, as well as a few choice things, like Scenocide 202 by The Outside Agency, which has gotten some fairly mega reviews. What I was really after was Insideout Liver Meat Balloon by Doormouse, circa '98, though I'd like to think he made the tracks earlier than that... This got me to thinking about Dan Martin, and where he is now...

So, I looked it up on google earth, and this is where he is;

Another one bites the dust

So it's been a long time coming, but my laptop's decided not to charge itself anymore... which means I need to get it fixed, as well as get a new one :/ not particularly thrilled about it. Kinda puts my "music" plans on hold, which is unfortunate, especially seeing as I have a set to do next month, for Tariq's bad ass looking breakcore/hardcore night "Secret Sounds" (I love that name, sounds like an underground junior disco or something)

Yeah so that should be decent, pretty all star line-up, Yeahhbuzz and Alien Hand's sets should be off the chain.

Mine will either be the same old drivel, or if I can get this laptop situation sorted, it could be something pretty bad ass.

Seems daunting though... Hope it all goes okay... Actually it always goes okay, be nice if it went phenominally, and there was another one of these next month or something!

3 weeks later

Well 3 weeks have gone by, managed to get the nanokontrol set up, with each of the 8 sliders/knobs representing different effects, need to set it up for traktor though, or maybe I should try deckadance like I've been meaning to... Actually, if I can automate the tempo in FL, I'll be sorted.

I've got a potential set/night/gig coming up (don't really know what to call it when I play "live"), it's gonna be in Dublin, first in dublin in a LONG time actually, first since the Gamepak Blackout fiasco, which was effectively the last Gamepak too, which was a shame, cause it was always mad fun. Either way though those nights always ended up having "better" (more poular, dubstep) acts downstairs, i.e. that time, I played upstairs at the same time as Kode 9 was downstairs (or whatever/whoever/whatever they're/he's calling him/themselves) so there was effectively no one there, I stopped playing chuiptune and lashed out a few of my older breakcore hits, which didn't go down too well, not that I can even really remember...

Anyways the night coming up is being set up by Jaygo, hopefully it all works out, he was talking about booking boxcutter, and me playing support, which sounded like nonsense, but he reassured me that I'd be playing in a different room. This could be the start of something decent though, and it's been a while since anything decent and regular's been around, cause Jaygo's mad down with the hardcore and breakcore.

I think I might suggest booking Shitmat, which would then make him the live act I've seen the most times, at about 5. I must get those pictures of me spooning him while he was asleep on Michael's couch, although those might be top secret, but I doubt he'd mind the idea. That is Henry, Michael might be a bit worried of how he'd react though...

Okay so remember a few weeks/months back I said I'd post stuff as I put it out on this thing, I LIED. Ha not really but yeah I did, having never posted a single track in here. So here goes, a double bonanza!
Well, this is great, I can't access my soundcloud widgets, I'll try do it later, or tomorow or something... But anyways thats a shitload of news there, definitely a couple weeks worth anyway, I'll keep (trying) to post.

Keeping up Appearances

Well, I'm not very good at maintaining this blog at all.

Suppose it's because I've been less bored in work recently.

Still got those tunes in the works, well the Ariel one's done, sent it off to potentially be in a compilation, see how she goes... and the Horse Force one's nearly there, although it is getting extremely heavy these days, and not really sounding anything like a remix anymore.

Oh wait yeah, forgot to mention, went on a bit of a shopping spree on ebay, this is my new vice for boredom in work. Finally got a NanoKontrol (ahem, several years after I originally wanted to get one) so yay, taht should be here soon, finally got my smartboy cart, with LSDJ running on it, which is bad ass, now just to get a working DMG... Also got some pretty beasting shoes, but that's another story for another blog, Next month (hopefully) will see me getting a new laptop (way overdue) and some monitor speakers (although I'm not sure what to get, I think I want yellow ones, they look loud)

It begins

So, it's happened, my boredom has finally gotten the better of me... and here I am starting a blog, not for any particular reason, well, boredom mainly, but I've been getting more and more into blogs recently and who knows? maybe someone might actually read this at some point, although I wouldn't necessarily be offended if they didn't, or don't.

My intention for this blog is to store a bunch of stuff that I think is cool all in the same place, most of which will be mostly populated from other blogs, and stuff that ends up in my facebook feed.
